Massage & Body Work
Benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is more than relaxing me-time. Studies continue to prove the physical, and emotional benefits of even a single massage therapy session. As the number of proven health benefits grows, so do the number of people who turn to massage therapy for a more balanced lifestyle.
How Can Massage Therapy Be Medically Beneficial?
RELIEVES STRESS
Stress relief is key to achieving a healthier lifestyle. Even a single massage session can significantly lower heart rate, cortisol and insulin levels – all of which help reduce daily stress.
ENCOURAGES RELAXATION
Relax. Reset. Repeat. Massage has been shown to help the body enter a relaxing rest-and-recovery mode, an effect that lingers long after the massage is over.
IMPROVES POSTURE
Unlike other bad habits, poor posture can be relaxing to correct. Massage helps reinforce healthy and natural movements, which can get your posture back on track.
IMPROVES CIRCULATION
The pressure created by massage therapy moves blood through congested areas. This causes new blood to flow in, resulting in improved body function.
RELAXES MUSCLES
Got neck, back or muscle pain? Odds are, sitting all day at the office is the culprit. Massage gets to the root of persistent pain by relaxing tense muscles.
IMPROVES FLEXIBILITY AND RANGE OF MOTION
As we age, joints tend to tighten, making range of motion more restricted. Massage helps keep joints more fluid, making you more flexible and less prone to injury.
A few massage options for your session
We do things a little differently than many massage offices. We don't make our clients choose one type of massage for their session and we don't charge extra for deep tissue or treatment work vs Swedish or relaxation massage. We feel that most folks need a combination of modalities for their body and that's why we book our appointments based on appointment length and then we work with you at your session to create the type of massage you need. This list is just a few of our available offerings and what they can do to assist your body with your massage session goals.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage. As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.
INJURY MASSAGE AND CHRONIC PAIN TREATMENT
This is specialized massage made for people who have been in accidents, have strained muscles, tendons or ligaments and are in need of rehab, or have diseases causing chronic pain and/or chronic fatigue. You will learn simple exercises to do on a daily basis to bring more comfort into your life. Successive sessions are highly recommended for best results.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE AND SPORTS MASSAGE
This is a perfect massage for anyone who needs more than relaxation for their muscles. The focus is on releasing the inner core of tension within muscle tissue. Do your shoulders feel stiff on occasion? Do your legs hurt after running or working out? Do you enjoy a deeper massage experience? Deep tissue or sports massage is for you.
HOT STONE THERAPY
In native traditions around the world, hot stones have been used on the body for healing purposes. Warm stones are placed on and used on your entire body during the massage strokes allowing gradual heat to filter through your body to the core of your muscles. An excellent therapy for relaxation. Use in conjunction with any treatment work as a mini version or schedule a full body hot stone massage on its own.
ONCOLOGY MASSAGE
Oncology Massage Therapy can appreciably enhance your healing process, reduce some side effects of some treatments and anxiety if you have been diagnosed with cancer. Whether you are currently receiving treatment, are in the decision process about what your treatment will be, or have recently completed treatment for cancer, an oncology massage can help build your health and restore your relationship with your body.
AROMATHERAPY
The use of essential oils for not only uplifting or relaxing your mind but for your body as well. Essential oil use can be all about scent and inhalation effects or very useful when used on the body for specific health goals. Aromatherapy goes far beyond just using Lavender oil for relaxation. We can assist you in making oil choices for your specific needs during your massage or you can set up a consultation with our Certified Aromatherapist for more specific needs.
SILICONE CUPPING
We offer silicone cupping to reduce muscle tension, pain, Myofascial restrictions and increase blood flow and overall sense of well being. The suction and pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system. This can be used in our treatment sessions in just one or two areas to reduce pain and tension.
