I love to use Cypress, Black Spruce, Frankincense, Sandalwood and other tree oils to ground and balance me when I am feeling overwhelmed, but I also love to use them for pain and muscle spasm. The woody aroma of these oils is very grounding when we are overwhelmed and caught in my head as I like to call it. The chemistry of these oils show they also have anti-spasmodic properties and may reduce pain. I find using these oils offer me a two for one benefit not only when I am stressed and feeling unsettled but when I have muscle issues creep up. Not only do I need relief from that but also from the emotional piece that undoubtedly comes with the muscle issue. Try a couple of my favorite recipes I've shared below.
Black Spruce Blend
3 drops Black Spruce
2 drops Peppermint
15-30 ml of carrier oil I love Jojoba so that is usually my choice but any fatty oil or lotion will work.
Cypress Blend
4 drop Cypress
1 drop Peppermint
15-30 ml of carrier oil
More drops of essential oil to carrier the higher the dilution ratio. If I am having an acute flare up of pain or a recent injury I might use the 5 drops of oil to 15 ml of carrier if this is just for use after workout or of a more ongoing chronic issue I would use the 5 drops of essential oil to 30 ml of carrier. Start with low dilution and add more as needed is my rule of thumb.
Both of these are great in an essential oil inhaler or diffuser. Let me know what you think.

Hi Teresa, I am so sorry I missed this in the comment feed. Congrats on your oily purchase! I am sure you will love the oils. For sleep oils like Lavender, Cedarwood, Bergamot and Frankincense can be very soothing and help with sleep issues. We will be running an online intro to oils class hopefully in a couple weeks and would love to have you on it. Just drop me an email if that is something that would interest you. I would also be happy to send you a few recipes if you would like for your diffuser to use at night. I recommend starting the diffuser an hour before you want to go to bed and use your relaxing and sleep inducing oils. Hope that helps and let me know if I can help in any way. :)
I’ve only got a starter kit from Young Living! I love the oils and want to learn so much more!! I want something that will really help me sleep! I’ve tried the oils in the defuses, I have tried lavender oils and salt baths! I have 41 out of 43 forms of insomnia, I want to do ALL natural and get away from chemical medications! I have only gone by the box and the information that was included! Help! I’m even trying to cut out sugar from my eating habits (processed sugars) any books I can get? Which oils are the best? I just need help, or attend maybe a study class or group! Any help is welcome! Thank you in advance!!!
